Ivo Caliò graduated cum laude in Civil Engineering at the University of Catania (Italy) in 1991. In the same year he initiated his research career as PhD student in structural engineering. In 1995 he obtained is PhD degrees in the field of Structural Engineering. From 1995 to 1997, Dr. Caliò continued his research activity in earthquake engineering with the financial support of a scholarship of the European Community. In 1997 he took up the positions of Researcher at the engineering Faculty of the University of Catania in the structural mechanical disciplines teaching the course of Dynamic of Structures and collaborating to the courses of mechanic of materials. In 2005 he became associate professor at the enginnering Faculty of the University of Catania teaching the courses of mechanics of materials, Earthquake Engineering and Structural dynamics and mechanical behaviour of masonry buildings. From October 2016 he is full professor.
